The property and apartment were beautifully well kept. We had a 3 br apartment for 5 nights and it was a great place for a family getaway. The apartment was spacious and well appointed. The only complaint I have is that the pots and pans were not large enough to cook for a hungry family of 6. Other than that, the kitchen was well stocked with all the gadgets and tools you need to make wonderful family meals together.
Jim and Doreen are excellent apartment managers. They were so helpful with recommendations of points of interests around Cairns and made booking our tours hassle free! All their suggestions were great and made planning our time in Cairns a piece of cake.
We would definitely stay there again. And thank you, Jim and Doreen, for making our stay an wonderful one.
We stayed at Trinity Beach in Cairns for a total of 5 nights. I think it is really quite a convenient place to stay as most of the points of interest are conveniently close by. Also you get a lovely beach as oppose to the marina if you live downtown Cairns.
Must do/see: 1. Diving/snorkelling out on the reefs. I think most tours that take guests out to the reefs seem to do a fairly good job. We did the Reef Magic pontoon thing. Good for families with different needs. We had Grandma who could not swim so there was a semi-submersible for her to look at the fish and reef. We had a certified diver with us so they had something for the diver, and snorkelling for those in the middle. The only thing that we did not take into consideration was that the pontoon would be good when the seas are calm and if everyone had a stout stomach. But the day when we were out there, the seas were choppy as there was a storm forming out at sea. So the pontoon was no respite for those who were sea sick (which a few of the guests were, including grandma!). Keep in mind lunch was on a gently rocking pontoon! For choppy seas, I recommend picking an island versus a pontoon. These tours usually are an all day thing, starting as early as 8:30am and returning to port at 5pm. So with an island, you would have land under your feet for some parts of the trip, especially during lunch!
2. Kuranda Scenic Railway and skyrail tour. Go up to Kuranda by train and return to Cairns by skyrail. Kuranda is also a charming place to wander around with all the marketplaces and shops.
3. Tjapukai Aboriginal cultural park - nice dinner show.
Book Bellevue at Trinity Beach, or Coastal Accommodation and Hotels.
