This caravan park was a great place to stay

We stayed in a reef cabin which was ideal for a couple of people. The open plan sleeping, dining and kitchen area and separate ensuite bathroom were large enough for our needs, and the balcony around the cabin, with outdoor furniture, meant that we could sit out for meals and enjoy the tropical surroundings. Although we were in a cabin near the front of the park , nearest to the main road, we were not disturbed by traffic noise.

We enjoyed using the facilities within the park, i.e. Pool, spa, fish/turtle feeding pond and walking along the creek at the rear of the park, as well as being able to get around easily to Cairns and surrounding areas due to the convenient location. The office was well supplied with tourism literature and the staff friendly and helpful. The park is child and pet friendly. I would agree with the 4 star rating given for the park.

Brimsmead is well situated being within a 7 minute drive to Cairns city, and nearby to tourist attractions. i.e. The 'Crystal Cascades' Waterfalls and swimming pools, the 'Caravonica Skyrail Cable car terminal' and 'Freshwater Railway Station Scenic Railway experience'. It is also just off the main road to 'Port Douglas' and 'Cape Tribulation' in the 'Daintree Forest', where you can see the crocodiles on a river train cruise on the 'Daintree River' and feel the excitement of 'flying' through the tree tops when 'Jungle Surfing' with 'Canopy Tours' in the forest.

'Billie Tea Safaris Chillagoe Caves tour' provides good value as they pick you up from your accomodation just after 7am and return you at 6. 30pm after a very interesting tour of the outback towns and the limestone caves of 'Chillagoe' inland and west of Cairns. This tour is not something I would attempt to do myself as the drive is long and sometimes off the main roads. Parking in Cairns city is convenient and not expensive.

You can park all day for 80c per hour at the 'Reef Terminal' carpark whilst on a 'Big Cat Cruise' to 'Green Island' on the 'Great Barrier Reef' where you can enjoy snorkelling, sun bathing on the beach and indulge in the 'must do' experience of 'Seawalker Helmet Diving'. 'Cairns Casino Wildlife Dome', 'Cairns Esplanade' with it's eateries, night market and lagoon are attractions also worth visiting.
